1. Admire art in Terton Gallery

If you are a person with great passion and love for art, then this beautiful Terton art Gallery is a great place to visit and spend your rest of the day. This gallery is run by Kelly, the great Bhutanese celebrity. This gallery was founded in 2001 and comprises of several mind blowing artefacts and also many antiques preserved very carefully in an organised manner. Terton Gallery is different from other art galleries as here not only the national works are kept, but also the international works of very famous personalities.

2. Jigme Dorji National Park

Located at the distance of 39 km from the center of the city, Thimphu, Jigme Dorji is a very large national park spreading over western parts of Thimphu, entire Gasa district and Paro. This national park is a home to many different and unique wildlife species such as Snow Leopard, Markot, Red Panda, Snakes, etc. One can also have the beautiful and mesmerising view of mountain peak such as Mount Jomolhari. This national park not only offers exquisite wildlife species but also variety of flora and fauna which makes this site very impeccable.

3. Changlimithang Archery Ground

Thimphu also offers to promote archery among the local people as well as among its tourists in Changlimithang Arhery Ground with well-experiences and learned professional instructors. Here, one can also find people practicing archery very enthusiastically early in the morning. Witnessing such a sport is surely a treat to the eyes of the travellers. If you too are a fan or archery, then trying your hands on this sport would surely be a refreshing and thrilling experience.

4. Motithang Takin Preserve

Motithang Takin Preserve is located at a distance of 3 km from Thimphu center, is the jewel of this city. This preserved area for the national animal of Bhutan, Takin. A beautiful and tireless half an hour walk in this preserve would make you witness so many exotic birds and animals freely wandering in their preserved habitat. This place is overflowing with calm, serene and beautiful natural beauty.

Timing to visit- Tuesday to Thursday, 9:00 am – 4:00pm

5. National Library

National library, which is at a distance of 1 km from the city center, was established in1967. This library has all the national archives of the country Bhutan and also Tibetans and Bhutanese manuscripts and texts. This place is extremely quiet and a paradise for all the people who have immense love and passion for libraries.

Timing to visit- Summers: Monday – Friday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, Winters: Monday – Friday: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
